Birthday Decor + The Daily Sketch

The last week and a half has been a blur! I caught the bug that's going around and it made my head float for days. We also celebrated Norah's first birthday Saturday, and I am SO thankful for my awesome mom for helping us set it all up! I was too sick to really do much. She even came over the Wednesday before (Norah's actual birthday) and cleaned!!! Wow do I have a super fabulous mom!

I adore throwing birthdays, especially for those I love dearly. It means a lot to me to make it special, unique, and with love. My greatest way to share my love is to give of my time and talent. Norah's first birthday was no different.

I knew I wanted rainbow theme, hands down. She LOVES colors! (yay!!!) Naturally I went straight to my childhood, Rainbow Brite.

I first drew out Rainbow Brite, and together with Brian, we made her invite.

I made her banner from a pre cut set of triangle construction paper found at Hobby Lobby, striped string, and craft white acrylic paint. I added the floral paper on the tips after I did the high chair bunting. I felt like the craft paper went with Rainbow Brite, but it wasn't anywhere else, so this brought them together.

My mom laid out the streamers, which I had found on Pinterest. Yeah, those are still up in the house by the way. It's not every day you get a rainbow running through your house. ;)

Lastly, I added to her fairy tutu my mom got her this past summer at the renfaire. It needed some jazz and length. I just cut some old veil tulle I had laying around into strips and tied them on. She loved it!

The party was a huge success, she had a blast, we had a blast, our house is filled with new, bright, and interactive toys, and we both are now recovering from being sick. Next year's birthday will be even MORE fun! ;)

The Daily Sketch

My head has been filled with what it means to live life by seeking out the light. I choose to do this because of how difficult it is. With these sketches, I'm now trying to find the light in my day, not just the joy, but the light. We are called to be the light, to demonstrate it, to share it. These are things that light me up.

The little dancing fairy here was a minute sketch, and that was all the time I had. It was with the thoughts of how often Norah and I dance, and how goofy, funny, and sweet we are together doing it. :)
