SBI Website Revealed

A big project that's been underway since December, my website.

I have many goals for what it can provide my customers and potential clients, yet until all those goals are met, there are a few that have been reached and I feel the site is ready to be revealed.

What Does My Site Offer Now

Goals For the Site

  • List all of my original artwork for sale, paintings and drawings
  • Move prints from Etsy to personal site
  • Offer more licensed gifts such as figurines, mugs, puzzles, etc.

It would mean so much if you could take a visit and see what's new. Enjoy! :)

It's Official

My very first intentional collection, from start to finish. A sweet Easter lamb surrounded by tulips, joyful bold colors, and a hint of earthy textures.

Holiday Inspired

A little known fact my husband and I share, we both have Scandinavian blood. His family (as close as his grandfather, who was a 100%) have a Norwegian background, and I have a Swedish background.

A while back when I discovered I had Scottish and Swedish roots, I began digging into it. I adore the folklore and ornate designs found in their art books, history books, and style today.

My mother in law asked me to help her with a project which lead me to Pinterest, which then lead me to browse Scandinavian design....Christmas style. I am so in love with it! I can't get enough!

I saw many little doll ornaments with long red pointy caps and adorable red dresses. Last night, I just had to draw my own. What I really like about Scandinavian design is the pattern, simplicity of color, and cozy calm it brings visually. I am very looking forward to painting this lovely lady!

Ready for Valentine's Day?

Bear of Hearts button button
Bear of Hearts button by sarabillustration

I have some great gift ideas for Valentine's Day this year that I'd love to share with you! Here are some thoughts:

Small heart button. Buy these in bulk and share with friends and family. Remind them of your love for them, or ask them to give their heart to someone in need of love. A great small and simple gift!

Little Valentine Heart button

Send a postcard. I have several postcards featuring paintings showing hearts, love, and the famous color red. Each card is only $1.25! Buy in bulk and send loving thoughts. Great framed once received too. Not only do they get your sweetest words, but they get a piece of art to hang as well.

Child of Healing Postcard

Wear your love. Support your heart by wearing it on your sleeve for one day. A few images to choose from for the day of love that you can place on any shirt of your desire. Now men, I haven't forgotten about you, but assumed you wouldn't want to wear a cute fairy bear with hearts. I have also designed heart ties in two colors for men bold enough to sport them. Great for an evening out! These shirts are great also for breast cancer awareness, every day, and children.

There is much more, mugs, stickers, magnets and other designs not presented here. Take a gander and see if you get any ideas. Thanks so much and let's spread the love people!

Autumn Mornin'

This is Fargo, my new identity.
{ winter 2009 business card design }

I can already tell its going to be one of those mornings where I can't seem to warm up and thus won't entirely wake up. Ugh, but hey, at least I got a full six/seven hours of sleep! That was nice.

So last night I worked on my identity. It's hard, just sentimentally, to go from Butcher to Burrier. In a way I feel like I'm disowning my dad and family...but I know that's not what I'm doing. I also feel like I might loose some of my following. I hope I've done enough that it won't make too much of a difference. I Googled Sara Burrier and pretty much all of the same stuff comes up. That's a plus.

Back to my identity. I've only sent out one postcard mailing, last year, so I know I can approach the publishers with my married name. Switching over the website and email has proven to be tricky. I've purchased two other domain names out of uncertainty and confusion. And now I'm about to buy more business cards on top of the 500 I have sitting in my studio sporting "Sara Butcher" and "http://www.sarabutcher.com".

Isn't there a handbook of some type for women who get married and are in this field? If not there should be! I don't have the mental capacity to figure it all out on my own. I mean I have, but not without using A LOT more time and mistakes to get there. It needs to be a smooth transition, which I think is why I find it so frustrating.

DB, a New Member in the Family

Design by Butcher.com (DB) is a new addition to the business Dreamflier Studios.com, created and maintained by Sara M Butcher.

Starting today the site DB will be launched and advertised as a new service offering the design needs for small businesses and persons. Services include logo design, brochures and flyer layouts, business cards, web sites, and product design. The idea behind DB is to offer these services at affordable rates. It is well known that graphic designers, more often than not, have high price quotes or are just out of the budget range of a small business owner. DB helps to make it simple by keeping the budget a baseline for service and working with you from there. "No" is not an answer, but "Yes, lets work with that." is.

Your logo or business brand is your signature mark. A very important piece of the equation. Sara M Butcher, creator and founder of Dreamflier Studios, understands and knows the pressures of running a small business. The little things, like a business card, add up and nudge when there are bigger fish to fry first. She founded DB - Design by Butcher, to service others and take care of those little things so that they can deal with what really needs to be done.

"Behind DB you'll find a purpose driven soul aiming high towards being a servant to others. It is difficult, as I have found, to start a business and finding funds to rocket you out into the unknown world of corporate money. To be honest, it could be terrifying. I have never had to pay another artist for graphic or design services, but I'm not blind to the knowledge of how much it costs. What's behind DB? Easy access to design without paying an arm and a leg."
